Elektrovat performed reconstruction of the high pressure bypass system at block  B2

TPP “Nikola Tesla B”, Ušće is located on the right bank of the Sava River, 50 kilometers west from Belgrade and 17 kilometers upstream from TENT A complex. It has the two largest power units in Serbia, with the power of 620 megawatts each, which have been operational since 1983, i.e. 1985, respectively.

Reconstruction of the high pressure bypass system at block B2 in one of the largest thermal power stations in the country, TENT B. the reconstruction was performed during 2016 in collaboration with Novamat d.o.o. The scope of the reconstruction of the control section of the system included delivery of the control cabinet for the bypass system, the cabinet of the safety system, design of PLC software and adjustment of parameters with an aim to obtain the best possible regulation in relation to the operation mode of the entire system.

In the course of the project implementation, the following actions were completed:

  • Preparation of project for execution;

  • Delivery of control cabinets for the bypass system and cabinets for safety system, according to  IEC 61439-1 standard;

  • Design of PLC software and HMI application for control of the  bypass system of  HP at B2 block;

  • Examination, testing of all functional connections with measuring equipment and  DCS ;

  • Adjustment of parameters for PID regulator;

  • Functional testing of SS function for BP valves and  MSV valves;

  • Testing of all operation modes of the high-pressure bypass system;

  • Commissioning and preparation of as-built project.

The high pressure bypass system at block B2 now has better performances compared to the existing system implemented at block  B1. The results of measuring at the new high pressure  bypass system at block B2 revealed that the response error of the system is lower than the one recorded at the existing high pressure system at block  B1 which is implemented by a foreign supplier.
